Dr. Kirchmier is a Board Certified Orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training and interest in Spine Surgery. He joined our practice in September 2002.

Dr. Kirchmier completed his undergraduate B.A. degree at Duke University in 1984. He earned his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1988, being elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic residency programs at Vanderbilt University from 1988 to 1993. He furthered his training by completing an extra one year Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Minnesota Spine Center in Minneapolis under the direction of Dr. Robert Winter. This fellowship is considered the premier fellowship in the country for developing expertise in spinal reconstructive surgery and surgery for spinal deformity. The training also consisted of learning and perfecting the non-surgical treatment of all cervical (neck) and thoracolumbar (back) disorders. Dr. Kirchmier has performed research in the field of low back degenerative disorders, and has written articles in peer reviewed journals and textbooks.

Dr. Kirchmier has eight years of clinical experience in the practice of Spine Surgery, and is an expert in the treatment of conditions such as disk herniation (ruptures) of the neck and back, spinal stenosis, spinal instability, scoliosis (deformities of the spine), trauma and tumors of the spine. He has been trained in the newest spinal techniques and uses state-of-the-art technology to create the best potential for successful outcomes.
