Kurt R. Larson, M.D.
Dr. Larson is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in joint replacement and sports medicine. He was the valedictorian of his medical school class at University of Southern California and the recipient of multiple awards. Dr. Larson completed a fellowship in sports medicine and a research fellowship in joint replacement at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1992 after his sports medicine fellowship.
Dr. Larson performs about 300 joint replacement surgeries annually. He has been a member of the prestigious American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (www.aahks.org) since 1999. He does mini-incision total hip replacements, small incision total knee replacements, and minimally invasive unicompartmental knee replacements. OSC keeps a computerized database of all hip and knee replacements so that we can track our outcomes, making sure they meet or exceed national standards.
Also, as a sports medicine orthopedist, Dr. Larson is an expert in arthroscopy having performed over 2,000 procedures. The majority of these procedures are shoulder and knee arthroscopy. Shoulder arthroscopy includes rotator cuff repair, decompression, and stabilization operations. Knee arthroscopy includes partial meniscectomy, meniscal repair, and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Cartilage grafting may be performed for the appropriate candidate. Most disorders of the shoulder and knee are best treated without surgery. His goal is to present your options in a logical stepwise fashion so that you can make the best decision regarding your bone and joint health.
